Barmouth has been a small seaside town for hundreds of years and has a population of around 2500. Barmouth started as a small fishing village in the 1500s. A house was built from the 15th century and people think that it was a safe meeting place for Henry during The War of Roses, because there was a really good harbour, and it was quite a small fishing town, so no one would know he was there. Barmouth has a lot of bath houses, because the Victorians thought that the sea water was good for the skin. In the bath house there was three pools, one for cold sea water and sea weed. One full of cold seawater only, and one full of warm seawater. Also drunk people used to get locked up if they were seen walking around drunk in the streets in a building called the round house which had two cells, one for women, and one for men.
